Continued increase in sales of holiday properties

In total, 6 100 more transfers of real property were registered during the three first quarters of 2004 than in the corresponding period last year. Transfer of holiday properties increased the most - 13 per cent.

The aggregate value of the properties transferred during the first three quarters of 2004 amounted to NOK 127.4 billion. This is an increase of 24 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2003.

The number of registered transfers of real property over this period in 2004 was 120 800, an increase of 5 per cent compared with the three first quarters in 2003. Seen quarter by quarter, the number of transfers increased by 10 and 7 per cent respectively, in the first and second quarter, while slipping back 0.1 per cent in the third quarter.

Steady increase for holiday properties

Sales increased for most types of properties during this years first three quarters. Holiday properties had the highest growth by 13 per cent. Sales of dwelling properties rose by only 3 per cent. Among the holiday properties, properties with building increased by 10 per cent, while properties without building (sites) increased by 24 per cent.

Highest sales of holiday properties in late summer

Traditionally, the transfer of holiday properties is highest in the months July to September. In 2004, a total of 2 500 holiday homes were sold on the free market during these three months. This is 500 more than in the preceding three months and 1 100 more than in the first quarter of the year. The average price per transfer of holiday homes amounted to NOK 768 000 in the third quarter of 2004, 23 per cent more than in the same quarter last year.

Price per dwelling transfer up

In the third quarter of 2004, a total of 18 900 dwellings were sold on the free market. The average price per transfer was NOK 1.6 million. This is 12 per cent more than in the corresponding period last year and 2 per cent more than in the previous quarter.
