Decline in property sales

The number of registered transfers of real property in the fist quarter of 2003 decreased by 1 200 compared with the same period last year. Still, there was a slight increase in the total value of the transferred properties. All kinds of properties showed decline in number of transfers.

A total of 33 000 transfers of real property was registered during the first quarter of 2003. Compared with the first quarter of 2002 this is a 4 per cent decline.

The total value of these transfers amounted to NOK 29.8 billion, which is an increase of only 1 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Decline in all types of properties

There was a decline in the number of transfers of all types of properties. The transfer of holiday properties had the largest fall, 11 per cent. The number of dwelling property sales were reduced by 2 per cent.

Still high prices on the transfer of dwellings

In the first quarter of 2003 a total of 11 800 built-up dwelling properties were transferred through voluntarily sale, 4 per cent less than in the first quarter last year. The average price for these transfers was NOK 1.5 million. The price is 4 per cent higher than in the corresponding quarter last year and almost the same as in the previous quarter.

Decline in prices on the transfer of holiday houses

1000 holiday houses were sold voluntarily in the first tree months 2003. The average price amounted to NOK 630 000. This is 9 per cent lower than in the first quarter last year, but 4 per cent higher than in the previous quarter.
