Another record year for property sales

The number of properties sold is still increasing. The number of registered transfers has reached a new record every year since 1999. The total value of the transfers has set a new record every year since 1995.

The total value of the registered transfers of real property during 2002 amounted to NOK 144.8 billion. This is 11 per cent higher than the year before. During the last five years the turnover increased by 70 per cent.

A number of 159 000 transfers of real property was registered in 2002. This is an increase of 2 per cent compared with 2001. Matched up to 1997, the number of transfers rose by 10 per cent.

Most dwelling properties sold

Of the transferred properties 69 per cent were for dwelling purposes, 16 per cent were holiday properties and 5 per cent were properties for the purpose of agriculture, forestry or fishery.

All together 110 000 transfers of dwelling properties were registered in 2002 and this is 3 000 more than in 2001. The transfer of dwelling sites increased the most compared with the year before, by 11 per cent. The number of built-up dwellings rose by 3 per cent.

During 2002 a total of 63 000 dwelling properties with a building were sold voluntarily. This is 5 per cent more than the year before. The average price per sale was NOK 1.5 million in 2002, an increase of 6 per cent compared with the average price in 2001. Oslo and Akershus counties had the highest average price, with NOK 2.3 and 2.0 million respectively.

In the 4th quarter of 2002, the average price per voluntary sale of built-up dwellings was NOK 1.5 million. This is an increase of 4 per cent compared to the 4th quarter of 2001. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2002 the increase was 3 per cent.

More expensive holiday houses

A number of 26 000 holiday properties were sold during 2002. Of these, 6 800 were built-up and transferred trough voluntary sale. The average price per transfer was NOK 643 000. This is NOK 68 000, or 12 per cent more than the year before.
