Preliminary figures show an increase in new dwellings in January-February 2013 compared with the same period last year.

A total of 5 787 new dwellings were given building starts in January-February; an increase of 1 493 dwellings compared with the same period last year. This is an increase of almost 35 per cent.

So far this year, a total of 713 400 square metres of utility floor space for industrial buildings have been started. This is 25.8 per cent less compared with 2012. Holiday properties (cottages), private garages and other non-industrial activities decreased by 9.3 per cent.

Overall, new utility floor space decreased by 7.2 per cent.
