Record high building activity
The increase in building starts continued in September. Compared with the corresponding period in 2006, the total number of square meter floor space started has risen by 12.4 per cent, during the first nine months of 2007. The growth rate is strongest in the industrial sector.
The total utility floor space started for industrial purpose and for education, health and public administration is 3 million square meter in the period from January to September 2007. Compared with same period last year, this is a growth of 20 per cent, and so far, the steady increase during 2005 and 2006 has continued in 2007.
High dwelling production
The trend based on monthly figures shows a stable high level of dwelling starts since autumn 2006. During the period from January to September 2007, 23 567 dwellings-starts were registered, a 5.2 per cent increase compared with the corresponding period last year.
