Strongest increase for industrial buildings

During the first seven months of the year, a total of 2.22 million square metres of utility floor space for industrial buildings were started. This is an 18.4 per cent growth compared to the corresponding period last year.

Most utility floor space was started for wholesale and retail trade. A total of 530 600 square metres was started for this purpose. Compared to 2006 this is a 12.5 per cent increase. Then follow buildings for manufacturing purposes, with a total of 362 300 square metres started during this period, a 10.2 per cent growth.

Utility floor space started for holiday houses, residential garages and more amounted to 772 100 square metres during the first seven months of the year. This is an increase of 12.4 per cent compared with the same period last year.

18 000 new dwellings so far

During the period from January to July 17 979 dwellings-starts were registered. Compared to 17 419 dwelling-starts in the corresponding period last year, this is a 3.2 per cent increase. Utility floor space started for dwellings increased by 6.6 per cent during the same period, to 2.24 million square metres.
