Increase in dwelling starts

During January and February, a total of 6 079 dwellings was recorded started, 21.4 per cent more than during the corresponding period in 2006.

Most new dwellings were started in Akershus with 1 177 new dwellings.

During the first two months in 2007, a total of 755 600 square metres of utility floor space for dwellings was recorded started. This is an increase of 20.9 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.

A total of 758 500 square metres of utility floor space for industrial buildings was started during January and February, an increase of 20.3 per cent compared to the same two months in 2006. Started floor space for holiday houses, garages etc during this period was 228 100 square metres, an increase of 13.1 per cent since last year.
