Industrial buildings increase the most

During the period from January to November 2006, a total of 3.2 square metres of utility floor space for industrial buildings was started, an increase of 11.2 per cent compared with the previous year.

Most utility space was started for wholesale and retail trade. A total of 784 400 square metres of floor space for this purpose was started during the eleven first months last year. Buildings for agriculture and forestry had the largest reduction in the number of square metres. A total of 404 700 square metres was started, 13.2 per cent less than during the first eleven months in 2005.

Decrease in dwelling starts in November

In November 2006 building of 3 111 dwellings was started. This is 15.4 per cent less compared with November 2005. During the first eleven months of 2006, a total of 29 103 dwellings was recorded started, an increase of 2.3 per cent compared with the corresponding period of 2005.
