Increased building of holiday properties

So far this year, a total of 429 000 square metres of utility floor space for holiday properties is started, an increase of 71 000 square metres, or 19.8 per cent, compared to the corresponding period last year.

Building of 22 806 dwellings is started so far this year, an increase of 6.1 percent compared to the period January-September 2005. Flats in multi-dwelling buildings have increased the most; with 30.5 per cent. The number of started detached houses is on the other hand 11.3 per cent lower than in the first nine months of 2005. Dwellings in houses with two dwellings are at last year’s level, while there has been a decrease in the number of started dwellings in row houses, linked houses and houses with 3 or 4 dwellings.

Increased building for industrial purposes

So far this year, 2.5 million square metres of utility floor space for industrial purposes has been started, an increase of 9.3 per cent compared to the corresponding period in 2005. There has been an increase in started utility floor space for all groups of industrial buildings, except for fishery and agricultural buildings and buildings for hotels and restaurants.

Deviation from the monthly building statistics

The figures that are presented in the monthly building statistics are preliminary, and the sum of the three months in a quarter can deviate from the quarterly building statistics. This is because there may be corrections in the Ground Property, Address and Building Register (GAB).
