More new industrial buildings

During February a total of 341 000 square metres of utility floor space for industrial buildings were started, an increase of 32.3 per cent compared with the same month last year.

Floor space started for industrial buildings during the first two months of 2006 amounted to 630 600 square metres, an increase of 10.2 per cent compared with the same period in 2005. Construction starts for wholesale and retail trade and manufacturing activity is highest, with 164 700 and 119 400 square metres respectively.

Construction of 201 700 square meters floor space for holiday properties and private garages where started in January and February this year, an increase of 9.7 per cent compared with 2005.

Decrease in dwelling starts

During January and February a total of 5 008 dwellings where recorded started, a decrease of 11.1 per cent compared with the same months in 2005. A total of 625 100 square metres of utility floor space for dwelling purposes where started, down 9.2 per cent compared with January and February in 2005.
