Decrease in dwelling-starts in January
Less square meters were started built for dwellings and other buildings during the first month of the year than in January 2005. The number of started dwellings decreased by 8.6 per cent compared with the high level last year.
A total of 2 907 dwellings were recorded started in January this year, 272 less than in January 2005. 363 600 square meters of utility floor space were started for dwelling purposes - a decrease of 8.4 per cent compared to January 2005.
For other buildings than dwellings a total of 393 800 square meters floor space were started in January 2006 - a decrease of 6.6 per cent compared to January 2005.
