Housing starts on par with last year

In total, 15 637 dwellings were started between January and July this year. This is more or less on par with the same period last year.

1 927 200 square metres of utility floor space for dwellings were started in the first seven months of this year, an increase of 6.3 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Buskerud county had the largest increase in dwelling starts with 144 per cent, followed by Oppland with 127 per cent. 1 006 and 513 new dwellings were started in Buskerud and Oppland in the first seven months of the year.

Other buildings than dwellings

1 494 300 square metres of utility floor space for industrial buildings and 644 500 square metres of utility floor space for holiday properties and private garages were started in the first seven months of 2005. For industrial buildings the number of square meters started remained stable from last year, whereas there was an increase in building starts of holiday properties and private garages by 8.7 per cent.
