More new dwellings

2 529 dwelling starts were registered in May 2005 - an increase of 15.6 per cent compared with May 2004. Almost 20 per cent more dwelling starts were registered in the period from January to May this year, compared with the same period last year.

1 493 200 square meters of utility floor space were started for dwelling purposes in the first five months of the year, an increase of 19.7 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Also for buildings with other purpose than dwellings it is started more utility floor space during the first five months this year compared with the corresponding period last year. The increase was 7.4 per cent. 442 900 square meters utility floor space in holiday properties and private garages were started in the period January to May. This is an increase of 18.5 per cent compared to last year. Industrial buildings had a corresponding increase of 3.5 per cent.
