30 000 dwellings in 2004
Final figures from Statistics Norway show that 29 999 new dwellings were recorded started in 2004 - an increase of 29.4 per cent from 2003.
Totally 3.5 million square meters of utility floor space for dwellings were started in 2004, up 19.8 per cent from 2003.
In Norway an average of 6.5 new dwellings per each thousand residents were started in 2004. In 2003 the corresponding figure was 5.1 new dwellings per each thousand residents.
2 901 000 square metres in non-residential buildings
2 901 000 square metres of utility floor space were started in non-residential buildings in 2004. Most building starts were in office and business buildings with 721 000 square metres utility floor space.
