Record high block building

The portion of new dwellings in blocks has increased considerably during the last three years. Dwellings in blocks made up about half of the dwelling started in the first six months of 2004.

This is due to the high activity in some of the large cities in Norway as Oslo and Trondheim.

6 238 dwellings were recorded started in the first six month this year, in blocks of flats. Of these a third, or 2 090, are located in Oslo. In Trondheim the number of started flats in blocks are 756 - twice as many as in the same period last year.

More Holiday houses

183 000 square meters of utility floor space were started for holiday houses during the first half of 2004. This is 18 per cent more than last year. The utility floor space started for non-residential buildings increased by 19 per cent in first six month of 2004 compared with the corresponding period last year.
