Still decrease in dwelling starts

The number of dwellings starts last year was 22 434 shows preliminary monthly figures. This is 11 per cent less than the year before.

Dwelling starts in Oslo and Akershus decreased by 30 and 31 per cent respectively from 2001 to 2002. In Østfold, Sør-Trøndelag and Rogaland dwelling starts increased between 17 and 18 per cent in the same period.

More buildings for public administration

3 652 200 square metres of utility floor space were started in non-residential buildings in 2002. Public administration had an increase in floor space started of 74 per cent. Utility floor space started in wholesale and retail trade etc. increased by 20 per cent, to 485 900 square metres.

Floor space started for real estate, renting and business estate activities started decreased by 46 per cent.
