Decrease in dwelling starts

20 823 dwellings were started during the period of January to November 2002, and this is an 11 percent decrease from the corresponding period of 2001.

The strongest decrease was in Oslo and Akershus: Both counties had 32 per cent less dwelling starts. Vestfold and Finnmark had a decrease of 30 and 29 per cent respectively.

In Rogaland, Sør-Trøndelag and Østfold dwelling starts increased by 15 per cent from the first eleven months of 2001 to the first eleven months of 2002.

More non-residential buildings in Sør-Trøndelag

During the period of January to November 2002, 3 329 400 square metres of utility floor space were started in non-residential buildings. Sør-Trøndelag had most utility floor space started, 369 800 square metres, and 85 per cent more than in 2001.

Public administration had an increase in floor space started of 72 per cent. Hotels and restaurants and transport, storage and communication had a decrease in floor space started of 48 and 46 per cent respectively.
