Decrease in dwelling starts

The number of dwellings started during the first nine months of 2002 decreased by 13 per cent from the corresponding period last year. So far 16 480 dwellings are started.

There were 1 166 less dwelling starts in Akershus during the first nine months this year than during the same period last year, a decrease of 39 per cent. In Oslo dwelling starts decreased by 20 per cent. Dwelling starts in Rogaland1 and Østfold increased by 13 per cent.

Increase for agriculture, hunting and forestry

During the period January to September this year 2 712 600 square metres of utility floor space are started in non-residential buildings, 2 per cent less than last year. The highest increase of floor space started for industries are for agriculture, hunting and forestry with a 23 per cent increase to 348 200 square metres.

Floor space started for hotels and restaurants and real estate, renting and business estate activities decreased by 56 and 42 per cent respectively.
