10 per cent less dwelling starts

7 553 dwellings were started during the first four months this year, 10 per cent less than last year. The number of dwellings was still higher than in previous years.

Dwelling starts decreased the most in Telemark, Finnmark, Sogn og Fjordane and Oppland, with 46, 41, 40 and 38 per cent respectively. Hedmark, Østfold and Rogaland had an increase of 38, 25 and 17 per cent. Rogaland had most dwelling starts this period, 961 dwellings.

More non-residential buildings

From January to April this year 1 251 100 m2 of utility floor space was started in non-residential buildings. This is a 1.5 per cent increase compared with the 1 232 200 m2 started during the same period last year.

The county of Nordland had the highest increase, from 39 700 m2 started during the first four months of last year to 101 400 m2 started during the same period this year. Non-residential building starts in Akershus increased from 93 700 m2 to 136 200 m2.
