Dwelling starts decreased by 12 per cent

The number of dwelling starts came to 5946 during the first three months of 2002, a decrease of 12 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.

Even though Akershus still has the highest number of dwelling starts, this county has the highest decrease. Akershus had 1 037 dwelling starts the first three months last year compared with 781 during the corresponding period this year.

In Hedmark 395 dwellings were started during the first three months of this year, an increase of 67 per cent from the corresponding period last year.

1 011 900 square metres for non-residential buildings

During the first quarter of 2002, a total of 1 772 300 square metres of utility floor space were started, 760 300 square metres for residential buildings and 1 011 900 square metres for non-residential buildings.
