Decline in dwelling starts

The number of dwelling starts for January this year is down by 13 per cent compared with the high level during January last year. The activity for other building starts is also on a lower level this January.

Norway had 2 152 dwelling starts in January. Hordaland and Rogaland are the counties with the most the most dwelling starts, 332 and 296 respectively. Akershus was number one last January, while this January the number of dwelling starts in Akershus is down to 204.

Other building starts down by 19 per cent

During January this year a total of 612 400 square metres of utility floor space were started. Construction starts of non-residential buildings made up 325 100 square metres of this floor space, 19 per cent less than during January last year.
