Increase in dwelling starts

Statistics Norway's building statistics for January and February 2001 show an increase in the number of dwelling starts compared with figures from the corresponding period in 2000.

Residential buildings

Statistics Norway's monthly building statistics show 4 527 dwelling starts in January and February 2001. This is 12 per cent more than in January and February 2000. The highest numbers of dwelling starts were registered in Akershus, Rogaland and Hordaland with 666, 508 and 474 dwellings respectively.

Non-residential buildings

In January and February 2001, an area of 775 300 m2 of non-residential utility floor space was started, an increase of 1.5 per cent compared with the same period in 2000. The highest numbers of square meter floor space were registered in Rogaland, Hordaland and Akershus, with 84 500, 68 900 and 65 400 square meter respectively.

Revised dwelling figures for October, November and December 2000

The October, November and December 2000 dwelling figures are revised. The revised statistics only concern residential buildings. The revised figures show 1 231 fewer dwelling starts in this period compared with the number of starts published earlier. The preliminary number of dwelling starts in 2000 is adjusted to 23 460 dwellings. This is 15.5 per cent more than in 1999.
