Less activity in building and construction works

The activity growth seen in the building and construction industry in recent quarters was replaced by a 1.7 per cent fall in the second quarter of 2016.

The production decrease was strongest in the civil engineering industry with 6.7 per cent, according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Building activity was almost unchanged, with a growth of 0.4 per cent.

Since the 2nd quarter of 2015, the production index for the building and construction industry has increased by 2.0 per cent. This figure is adjusted for working days. The construction activity was the largest contributor to the increase, with 4.4 per cent. Correspondingly, the production in the civil engineering industry fell by 4.4 per cent.
