Falling activity in civil engineering works

From the 3rd to the 4th quarter of 2014, the activity in the building and construction industry decreased by 1 per cent when adjusted for seasonal variations. This follows two quarters of growth.

The civil engineering sector, which had a strong growth throughout the three first quarters of 2014, decreased by 8.0 per cent in the 4th quarter according to seasonally-adjusted figures. The activity in the building industry was almost unchanged, with a growth of 0.4 per cent.

Compared to the 4th quarter of 2013, the total production was 0.2 per cent higher according to working-day adjusted figures. The civil engineering sector had an increase of 3.7 per cent, while the construction activity was at the same level as the corresponding quarter in 2013.
