Continued high activity in civil engineering works

The production in building and construction rose by 1.6 per cent from the 2nd to the 3rd quarter according to seasonally-adjusted figures. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2013, the working day adjusted figures increased by 5.8 per cent. Civil engineering works continued its growth from the last quarter.

After minor changes in the activity level in the 2nd quarter, the construction industry experienced a 1.9 per cent increase in the 3rd quarter. The activity in the civil engineering sector experienced strong growth, by 5.6 per cent, when adjusting for seasonal variations.

Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2013, the total production in building and construction was 5.8 per cent higher according to working-day adjusted figures. Activity in the building industry increased by 2.5 per cent, whilst civil engineering had a considerable growth by 17.5 per cent when adjusting for working days.
