The Production index shows that the activity in the construction industry continues to increase. In the first quarter of 2013 the production was 4.0 per cent higher than in the same quarter of 2012, according to seasonally-adjusted figures.

Growth in construction activity

The activity in the construction industry increased by 7.6 per cent from the third quarter in 2012 to the third quarter in 2013.

The figure shows the development in building, civil engineering works and a total.

The production index for construction measures the activity based on working hours. The seasonally-adjusted figures show an increase of 1.8 per cent from the first to the second quarter, and they continued to rise in the third quarter by 3.3 per cent. Building productivity increased from the second to the third quarter, while civil engineering works had a slight decrease following a long period of growth.
