Increased activity in civil engineering works

Production in the civil engineering sector has experienced high growth in the last two quarters. Compared to the 1st quarter last year, production has increased by 25.8 per cent according to working day adjusted figures.

The activity in the civil engineering works has increased by 5.6 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2011 to the 1st quarter this year, adjusted for seasonal variations. The positive development in the civil engineering sector is confirmed by the statistics for new orders in the construction industry, published on 24 May 2012. The statistics show that the contractors had an all-time high stock of orders at the end of the 1st quarter of 2012.

In the construction sector, production increased by 4.2 per cent from the 4th quarter last year to the 1st quarter this year. Working day adjusted figures indicate a growth by 5.4 per cent from the 1st quarter last year.

The total production in the construction industry increased by 2.6 per cent in the 1st quarter of 2012. This is 9.2 per cent higher than the same quarter last year.
