Construction growth continues

The construction activity in Norway increased by 6.4 per cent in the third quarter this year compared with the third quarter of 2006. Adjusted for seasonal variations the production increased by 1.3 per cent from the second to the third quarter.

Driven by a strong growth in production of new buildings, the total building activity increased by 7.5 per cent from the third quarter last year to the third quarter this year. The production of new buildings increased by 10.5 per cent in the same period, and the production within repair, maintenance and improvement of buildings increased by 3.6 per cent.

The production in civil engineering works increased by 3.4 per cent from the third quarter last year to the third quarter this year.
