Increased activity in construction

The construction activity in Norway is 8.7 per cent higher in the second quarter of 2004 than in the same quarter in the previous year. The strongest increase is recorded in civil engineering works, but the activity is also increasing in production of buildings.

The production in civil engineering work rose in the second quarter, and is 15.2 per cent higher than in the same period in 2003. The production of new buildings increased by 8.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2004 compared with the same period the previous year. The repair, maintenance and improvement of buildings increased by 4.7 per cent.
