Turnover growth in construction industry

The turnover in the construction industry increased by 1.9 per cent in May and June this year compared with the same period of 2002.

The total construction turnover for the 3r d period (May and June) 2003 was NOK 27 billion an increase of NOK 501 million compared with the same period of 2002. Mesta Ltd caused the growth in turnover. From 1s t of January 2003, the state road construction activity is sorted out as a stat-owned enterprise called Mesta Ltd,.Mesta is established in the building of complete constructions or parts thereof, civil engineering.

All turnover in this connection excludes VAT.

5.7 per cent growth the first six months

The total construction turnover for the first six months of 2003 was NOK 73 billion, an increase by 5.7 per cent compared to the same period last year. The building of complete constructions or parts thereof, civil engineering experienced an increase by 10.4 per cent. However, the renting of construction or demolition equipment with operator saw a 8.2 per cent decline in turnover in the same period.

Counties

Mesta Ltd is localized in Nordland, Akershus and Hordaland. In this counties, the turnover for the first six months of 2003 went up by 22.7, 14.2 and 12.6 per cent respectively compared with the same period the year before. Turnover of construction companies in Telemark and Vestfold decreased by 4.6 and 4.5 per cent in this period.
