Turnover increased by 7.9 per cent

Turnover in the construction industry increased by NOK 3.4 billion or 7.9 per cent in the period January - April 2003 compared with the corresponding period in 2002.

From the 1s t of January 2003, the state road construction activity is sorted out as a state-owned enterprise called Mesta Ltd. Mesta caused half of the growth in turnover, and this turnover is included in our figures from 2003. Mesta is established in the building of complete constructions or parts thereof, civil engineering - of which the latter had the largest increase.

All turnovers in this connection exclude VAT.

County

The large turnover increase in Nordland, Akershus and Hordaland arise mainly from the fact that Mesta is included in our statistics as of 1s t quarter 2003. In the period January to April 2003 compared with the same period last year the increase was 25.1, 24.2 and 15.2 per cent respectively in these counties.

Growth in the 2n d period 2003

The turnover of construction companies increased by 8.9 per cent or NOK 2 billion in the 2n d period 2003 compared with the 2n d period 2002.

New information

The turnover in the 6t h period 2002 is 8 per cent higher than previously published. This is because we received new information about some local kind-of-activity units.
