4.3 per cent growth in construction industry

Turnover in the construction industry increased by 4.3 per cent from 2001 to 2002. The total construction turnover for 2002 was NOK 148.9 billion, an increase of NOK 6 billion compared with the year before.

Growth in the building of complete constructions or parts thereof; civil engineering and site preparation was 6.5 and 6.3 per cent respectively, or NOK 5 155 and 597 million in this period.

All turnovers in this connection exclude VAT.

Largest increase in Vest-Agder and Sør-Trøndelag

The turnover of construction companies in Vest-Agder increased by NOK 600 million, or 11.2 per cent in 2002 compared with 2001. The turnover of companies in Sør-Trøndelag went up NOK 934 million, or 10.4 per cent in this period. Four counties experienced a decline in turnover in 2002 compared with 2001; Oppland by 4.6 per cent, Sogn og Fjordane by 4.3 per cent, Telemark with 1.0 per cent and Aust-Agder by 0.7 per cent.

Turnover decline in the 6th period 2002

The total construction turnover for the 6t h period (November-December) 2002 was NOK 29 billion, a decline of 3.6 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2001. Establishment in the renting of construction or demolition equipment with operator experienced the largest decline in constructions turnover this period.

Largest decrease in Oppland

The turnover of construction companies in Oppland decreased by 15.3 per cent in the 6t h period 2002 compared with the 6t h period 2001. Five counties experienced an increase in constructions turnover.
