Increase in construction costs

The construction costs of residential buildings increased by 0.4 per cent from April to May this year. Labour costs rose by 0.9 per cent in the same period.

Wage statistics for the second quarter of 2018 are included in the construction costs of August 2018. From this quarter on, the SSB Labour cost index is the new data source for Labour cost.

From August 2017 to August 2018, the construction costs of detached houses of wood and multi-dwelling houses increased by 3.6 and 3.9 per cent respectively.
