The 1 per cent decrease in the total outstanding amounts of Norwegian funds can be attributed to both net sales of shares and the lower prices of the value of the funds. The share capital of the equity funds suffered most and fell by 3.9 per cent; the decrease amounted to NOK 18.8 billion.

While equity funds were net sold, hybrid funds and bond funds were net bought

The net sales in equity funds amounted to NOK 15.2 billion during the second quarter of the year. Other funds were more popular, with investors net buying shares of hybrid funds of NOK 5.5 billion, bond funds of NOK 2.5 billion and other bond funds that amounted to NOK 2.5 billion. Another type of fund that was net sold was money market funds, at almost NOK 600 million.

Another quarter of foreign investors selling

Foreign investors have net sold fund shares for three consecutive quarters. They net sold fund shares of NOK 7.8 billion during the second quarter of 2015. They net sold all types of funds apart from other bond funds.

Financial corporations net sold most fund shares during the second quarter; the equity funds alone amounted to NOK 7.2 billion. Life insurance companies and pension funds that belong to this sector were the biggest actors. With net purchases of bond funds worth NOK 3.4 billion, hybrid funds amounting to NOK 2.7 billion, and other bond funds of NOK 1.3 billion, they ended up at a net purchase of NOK 1.7 billion in total.
