Monthly earnings increased by NOK 1 400

Full-time employees in central government had average monthly earnings of NOK 31 400 per 1 October 2006. This was an increase of NOK 1 400 or 4.8 per cent from 2005.

Females working full-time had monthly earnings of NOK 29 600 while males had monthly earnings of NOK 32 700. This corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 400 for females and NOK 1 500 for males.

General and overall public service activities

Employees in general and overall public service activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 31 300, an increase of NOK 1 400 from 2005. Advisers and senior executive officers are the dominating occupational groups with monthly earnings of NOK 31 000 for advisers and NOK 27 100 for senior executive officers. This was an increase of NOK 1 100 and 900 respectively. In comparison executive officers had monthly earnings of NOK 24 700, an increase of NOK 1 000.

Justice and judicial activities, public security, law and order activities

Employees in justice and judicial activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 30 700, an increase of NOK 600 or 2.1 per cent. Corresponding figures for employees in public security, law and order activities were NOK 30 400, an increase of NOK 1 400 or 4.7 per cent.

Universities and colleges

University and college employees had average monthly earnings of NOK 32 600 by October 2006, constituting an increase of NOK 1 300 or 4.2 per cent from 2005. Professors and teachers with a university degree had monthly earnings of NOK 46 100 and 34 600 respectively, corresponding to increases of NOK 2 300 and 1 100.

Central government industries

Employees in central government industries includes among others those in construction, health and social work, and real estate- and business activities. In construction monthly earnings were NOK 30 000, an increase of NOK 2 300 or 8.1 per cent. Health and social work employees had monthly earnings of NOK 28 800 while employees in real estate and business activities had monthly earnings of NOK 30 200. This constituted increases of 6.0 and 5.1 per cent respectively.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information on 108 152 full-time employees reported to the State Central Register of Government Employees per 1 October 2006. The statistics also cover employees paid by the salary scale for leaders.
