Monthly earnings up NOK 1 400

The average monthly earnings of employees in central government were NOK 31 100 per 1 October 2006. This was an increase of NOK 1 400, or 4.8 per cent, from 2005.

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees were NOK 31 400, an increase of NOK 1 400 from 2005. Women had monthly earnings of NOK 29 600, an increase of NOK 1 400, or 4.8 per cent. In comparison, the monthly earnings of men were NOK 32 700, an increase of NOK 1 500, or 5.0 per cent.

Part-time employees

By calculating full-time equivalents for part-time employees, the salaries of part-time employees amounted to NOK 28 600 per month, an increase of NOK 1 300, or 4.7 per cent from 2005.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on preliminary information on 131 231 central government employees reported to the State Central Register of Government Employees per 1 October 2006.

By calculating full-time equivalents for part-time employees, it is possible to compare wages and wage development for both part-time and full-time employees.
