Monthly earnings up NOK 1 000

The average monthly earnings of employees in central government were NOK 29 700 per 1 October 2005. This was an increase of NOK 1 000, or 3.5 per cent, from 2004.

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees were NOK 29 900, an increase of NOK 1 000 from 2004. Women working full-time had monthly earnings of NOK 27 900, an increase of NOK 1 100, or 4 per cent. In comparison, the monthly earnings of men working full-time were NOK 31 100, an increase of NOK 1 000, or 3.3 per cent.

Part-time employees

By calculating full-time equivalents for part-time employees, the salaries of part-time employees amounted to NOK 27 500 per month, an increase of NOK 1 100, or 4.2 per cent from 2004.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on preliminary information on 131 638 central government employees paid by the main wage agreement or by the salary scale for managers and who are reported to the State Central Register of Government Employees per 1 October 2005.

By calculating full-time equivalents for part-time employees, it is made possible to compare wages and wage development for both part-time and full-time employees.
