Monthly earnings up NOK 1 400

Full-time employees in private education had average monthly earnings of NOK 39 400 as of October 2012. This was a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 400, or 3.7 per cent.

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in private primary schools were NOK 35 300, up NOK 1 700. For employees in private upper secondary schools, earnings were NOK 40 300, up NOK 800. Earnings for full-time employees in private university colleges were NOK 44 500 and full-time earnings in other education were NOK 38 900; an increase of NOK 1 700 and NOK 1 600 respectively from October 2011.

Teaching staff

Earnings for the professionals, where we find sixth form teachers and schoolmasters, were NOK 42 600, up NOK 1 600, or 3.9 per cent. Professionals working at university colleges had earnings of NOK 45 300, whereas professionals in primary schools had NOK 37 500.

Teachers and other assistant professionals had average monthly earnings of NOK 36 600. This was a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 000, or 2.8 per cent.

About the statistical basis Open and readClose

The statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises in private education, covering a total of 7 111 full-time employees and 4 064 part-time employees. The total number of employees that forms the basis for weighting is 19 600, according to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments.

The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included.

Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
