Average monthly earnings up NOK 2 200

Full-time employees in real estate activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 48 100 as per 1 September 2012, excluding overtime pay. This is a year-on-year increase of NOK 2 200 or 4.8 per cent.

Full-time employed women had an average basic salary of NOK 42 900, which is a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 500 or 3.6 per cent, while full-time employed men had an average basic salary of NOK 50 800; a year-on-year increase of NOK 2 900 or 6.1 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises, which cover a total of 6 230 full-time employees and 637 part-time employees. The total number of employees, which is used as the basis for weighting, is 23 000 in real estate activities, according to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments.

The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included, but is presented in the statistics separately.

Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
