7 per cent increase for craft workers

Average monthly earnings (excluding overtime payment) of craft workers working full time in the building and construction industry were NOK 29 100 at 1 October 2007, an increase of NOK 1 900 or 7 per cent from 1 October 2006.

In comparison, average monthly earnings excluding overtime payment for all full-time employees in the building and construction industry were NOK 31 000, an increase of NOK 1 900 or 6 per cent from 2006. The basic salary, which is defined as monthly earnings excluding bonuses and irregular payments, was NOK 29 500 on average. This is an increase of NOK 1 600 or 5.7 per cent.

Estimated annual earnings

Average estimated earnings of full-time employees in the building and construction industry in 2007 were estimated to be NOK 364 400, a 5.8 increase from 2006. In comparison, the calculated growth from 2005 to 2006 was 3.6 per cent.

On the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises that covers 65 139 full-time employees. According to figures from the national accounts for the third quarter of 2007, there are 164 200 employees in the construction industry.

Average monthly earnings is the main concept in the wage statistics and covers basic salary, variable additional allowances and bonuses, but not overtime payments.
