Slight decrease in road goods transport
Transport by Norwegian lorries fell slightly in the third quarter of 2012 compared with the same quarter in 2011. They transported 60.9 million tonnes of goods on domestic tours, 3.9 per cent less than the third quarter of 2011.

Norwegian lorries transported 1.3 million tonnes of goods on foreign trips, an increase of 2.7 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2011.
The total transport performance amounted to almost 5 billion tonne kilometres in the third quarter of this year, of which 4.2 billion tonne kilometres were domestic and 0.7 billion tonne kilometres were overseas.
Less empty running overseas, increase domestic
Norwegian lorries covered 450 million kilometres on domestic journeys and almost 48 million kilometres abroad in the third quarter of 2012. This is respectively 2.3 and 2.2 per cent more, compared with the same quarter last year. While the share of kilometres with no load domestically increased in third quarter compared with the same period in 2011 it went down for tours overseas, to a low 12 per cent.
Increase in average transport distance per tonne domestic
The average transport distance per tonne for domestic transport increased from 67.3 to 69.7 kilometres per tonne, compared with third quarter of 2011. The international transport went down from 556.8 to 547.7 kilometres per tonne.
