Younger users are assigned more home-based services

Preliminary figures from the IPLOS register show that the younger age groups, on average, are given most hours of home-based services (home nursing and home help) per week.

The statistics regarding users of municipal nursing and care services are from 2007 based upon results from the IPLOS register. Compared to results from previous years, this gives a break in the time series.

The younger age groups (below 50 years) are given most hours of home-based services (home nursing and home help) per week. This is partly related to differences in the composition of services due to variations in needs according to age groups.

According to the IPLOS register, the number of recipients of home-based services (home nursing and home help) is now 167 400, while institution residents are about 42 100. Long-term residents in institutions for the aged and disabled also have the greatest need for assistance according to IPLOS.

More then 121 200 man-years are registered in municipal nurse and care services. This is a growth of 3 000 man-years compared to 2007.
