Compensation in cash up 3.3 per cent

Total paid compensation in cash amounted to NOK 918 billion in 2009. This is an increase of NOK 29 billion, or 3.3 per cent, from 2008.

For men, the increase was 2.0 per cent from NOK 550 billion in 2008 to NOK 561 billion in 2009. In comparison, women had NOK 357 billion in 2009; an increase of 5.3 per cent from 2008. A total of 2 970 500 persons received compensation in cash in 2009, which is 22 000 more than in 2008.

Disbursements of unemployment benefits

A total of 160 300 persons received unemployment benefit in 2009; an increase of 60.3 per cent from the year before. Total disbursements of unemployment benefit amounted to NOK 9.6 billion in 2009; an increase of 123.5 per cent from 2008.

The statistics are based on figures from the register on End of the Year Certificates for the year 2009. This covers enterprises that are obligated by law to report to the register.
