Substantial growth in transportation and storage
The industry sector transportation and storage had an increase in turnover of 5.2 per cent from 2010 to 2011. With a turnover of NOK 320.5 billion, the sector has reached the level prior to the financial crisis of NOK 315 billion.
Increase for land transport
In 2011, the entire land transport division had a turnover of NOK 70 billion; an increase of 4.2 per cent compared to 2010. Despite the increased turnover, the number of enterprises fell.
Growth in sea transport
In 2011, the sea transport division had a turnover of NOK 123.3 billion compared to NOK 119.2 billion in 2010; an increase of 3.5 per cent. The number of enterprises fell from 1 722 in 2010 to 1 706 in 2011; a decrease of 0.9 per cent.
Strong growth in turnover for air transport
Air transport had a turnover of NOK 26.9 billion in 2011, compared to NOK 23.8 billion in 2010; an increase of 13.1 per cent. Employment increased by 544 and reached 7 330 in 2011. The number of enterprises remained stable.
Slight increase for warehousing and support activities for transportation
The industry division for warehousing and support activities for transportation had a turnover of NOK 84.5 billion in 2011; an increase of 6.9 per cent. Employment fell by 65 to 28 750 employees in 2011.
Postal and courier activities
The industry division postal and courier activities had a reduction in employment of 5.4 per cent from 2010 to 2011.
