Monthly earnings up NOK 1 100

Full-time employees in social and personal service activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 31 000 per 1 October 2005. This was an increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.5 per cent from 2004.

Social and personal service activities include sewage and refuse disposal, membership organizations, recreational, cultural and sporting activities and personal service activities.

Sewage and refuse disposal

Full-time employees in sewage and refuse disposal had monthly earnings of NOK 26 100, an increase of NOK 1 200 or 4.9 per cent from 1 October 2004. Monthly earnings for employees in elementary occupations amounted to NOK 22 900, while operators and drivers had monthly earnings of NOK 24 500. This corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 000 and NOK 1 200 respectively.

Membership organisations

This group includes business, employers' and professional organisations, trade unions and other membership organisations.

Monthly earnings for employees in employer organizations were NOK 39 600, an increase of NOK 1 700 or 4.5 per cent. Technicians and associate professionals had monthly earnings of NOK 34 100, which was an increase of NOK 1 900. Monthly earnings for senior officials and managers were NOK 53 600, while professionals had monthly earnings of NOK 41 400. This was an increase of NOK 1 800 and 1 900 respectively.

In comparison, employees in trade unions had monthly earnings of NOK 34 000, an increase of NOK 1 000 or 3.2 per cent from 2004. Senior officials and managers had monthly earnings of NOK 41 300. This was an increase of NOK 200. Monthly earnings for professionals were NOK 36 500, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 100. In comparison, technicians and associate professionals had monthly earnings of NOK 31 500, an increase of NOK 700.

Other personal service activities

Other personal service activities include washing, dry-cleaning, hairdressing, beauty treatment and funeral and related activities etc.

Full-time employees in washing and dry-cleaning had monthly earnings of NOK 22 700, an increase of NOK 800 or 3.7 per cent from 2004. Monthly earnings for operators and drivers were NOK 20 700. This was an increase of NOK 800 or 3.9 per cent.

In comparison, employees in hairdressing and other beauty treatment had monthly earnings of NOK 22 200, an increase of NOK 800 or 3.8 per cent. Hairdressers had monthly earnings of NOK 21 500, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 600.

Employees in funeral and related activities had monthly earnings of NOK 29 100, an increase of NOK 700 or 2.5 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 23 053 full-time employees. According to preliminary figures from the national accounts for the third quarter 2005, the statistics cover about 76 600 (corrected 10 April 2006 at 1330) employees in social and personal service activities.
