House prices up 1 per cent last quarter

House prices increased by 1 per cent from the third to the fourth quarter of 2004. Adjusted for seasonal variations, house prices increased by 2.2 per cent in the same period.

Prices of flats increased by 2.2 per cent during the last quarter, while prices of row houses and detached houses increased by 1.3 per and 0,6 per cent respectively. From the fourth quarter of 2003 to the fourth quarter of 2004, house prices increased by 10.5 per cent.

Annual growth in house prices by 10,2 per cent

The House price index increased by 10.2 per cent from 2003 to 2004, which is the highest annual growth since 2000. The annual growth is an average of the quarterly indices in 2004 compared with the corresponding average for 2003.

A total of 11 843 sales are used in the calculation of the price index.
