Wage statistics. Hourly earnings in manufacturing and private building and construction, 4th quarter 1997:

Higher hourly wages


The average hourly wage for male workers in private building was NOK 126.13 and in construction it was NOK 159.32. This was an increase of 4.9 and 8.9 per cent from fourth quarter 1996. If we look at the year as a whole the increase from 1996 to 1997 was 5.9 per cent in building and 8.3 in construction.
In manufacturing the average hourly wage was NOK 120.37 in fourth quarter 1997, up 3.1 per cent from fourth quarter 1996. For the year as a whole, hourly wages rose 3.9 per cent from 1996 to 1997.

Compared to fourth quarter 1996, hourly earnings in manufacturing in fourth quarter 1997 were up 3.2 per cent for men, to NOK 123.16, and three per cent for women, to NOK 107.68. The year on year change was four per cent for men and 3.8 per cent for women.
