Hotel statistics, June 1997:

Less business from overseas

Foreign bookings at Norwegian hotels dropped by three per cent in June compared to June 1996, while domestic business increased by one per cent. Overall occupancy decreased by 13,000 overnight stays in June.

Reservations by German guests declined from 244,00 guest days in June 1996 to 231,000 guest days in June 1997. American and Japanese bookings were also down 10 per cent.

Increase for rural hotels

Buskerud and Vest-Agder had the largest absolute increase, with 6,000 bookings. Other counties noted small changes. Of the hotel groups, city hotels saw a one per cent decline, rural hotels had a increase of four per cent, while tourist and high mountain hotels noted a seven per cent drop in business.
