Labour Force Survey, 2nd quarter 1996:

Well educated employees attend courses the most

In Norway, 220,000 employees were enrolled in job-related courses or training programmes in the course of a four-week period in the second quarter of 1996. This is equivalent to 11 per cent of all employees. Eighteen per cent of employees with a college or university education attended courses.
The people with the most education make up the majority of those enrolled in courses or another form of employer-paid training. This reflects the general phenomenon that jobs requiring a high degree of knowledge and skills also require more updating and continuing education.

Among the largest industries, the percentage of course participants was the highest in financial services, public administration and defence, health and social services, and education.
