From October 1st 2009, non-Nordic EEA nationals are no longer required to have a residence permit, with some exceptions for citizens from Romania and Bulgaria. These persons are required to register with the Norwegian authorities when they intend to stay in Norway for more than 3 months. This change is important for the statistics on the number of cases received by the police ¿ the immigration administration, and particularly for the type of cases 'Work and residence permit including EEA nationals' and 'Registration system for EEA nationals'.
